Get to know the Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative (CCGI)!

What is CCGI?

The Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative (CCGI) works to enhance the health of Canadians by fostering excellence in chiropractic care. Here are a few ways the initiative – made up of chiropractors and chiropractic researchers – work to meet this goal:

  • Clinical Practice Guidelines: CCGI develops, adopts and disseminates guidelines for practitioners to diagnose, manage and treat patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Evidence-informed practice: these guidelines encourage chiropractors to integrate the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient values.

CCGI works closely with chiropractors across Canada, provincial associations, regulatory bodies, and educational institutions.

How does it help me?

CCGI helps to ensure Canadians receive effective and consistent care and has developed many tools designed specifically for patients. These include:

Ask your chiropractor to explain how these resources may apply to you and for advice on helpful resources!

What’s on the horizon for CCGI?

The organization is in the early stages of developing three guideline implementation toolkits for chiropractors and patients regarding the clinical and self-management of (1) lumbar spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spine which can lead to numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs), (2) persistent headache associated with neck pain, and (3) concussion and persistent symptoms. All of which will help Canadian’s manage their pain.
